Tech reporter Kara Swisher is working to assemble a group of investors to buy the Washington Post from billionaire Jeff Bezos.

“The Post could do better… It's so upsetting to see what's going on. … Why don't I do it? Why don't any of us do it?” Swisher told Axios In Friday's report.

The Washington Post is reportedly suffering from an exodus of high-profile talent. has been losing money, has struggled to fill key positions, and employee morale has plummeted in recent years. The newspaper irritated its readers earlier this year by announcing it would not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election. The decision infuriated multiple staffers at the paper and led to the resignation of some editorial and staff members, but Bezos supported it.

Before deciding not to endorse Trump, The Washington Post called him “terrible” and “the worst president of our time.”

However, Bezos has not indicated any intention to sell.

In comments to Axios, Swisher pre-emptively rejected pro-Trump billionaire Elon Musk's participation in the investor consortium.

“I hope it's not Elon, but he seems pretty busy these days as the (not) president-elect,” Swisher said.

Musk has been the target of attacks from liberal media and Democratic lawmakers after supporting and supporting President-elect Trump's campaign.

“Elon Musk is the guy who really drives things. He's not just Trump's co-president. I think that's too low a title,” MSNBC's Chris Hayes said in a monologue Wednesday. “He is in charge and House Republicans certainly know who they are getting their marching orders from.”

Musk has yet to directly respond to Swisher's comments, but he officially entered the media world with the acquisition of Twitter in 2022. Musk has since changed the company's name to X, with the goal of developing “everything you need.”

Axios CEO Jim VanHay responded to Swisher's mention of Musk in I hope it's not Mr. Elon.” [Musk] I would like a post…”

Swisher and the Washington Post did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
