The House Republican Conference ‘Can’t Govern’

CNN host Jake Tapper told Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) on CNN's “The Read” on Friday that Congressional Republicans are incapable of governing.

On Friday night, the House passed a three-month funding bill to prevent a possible government shutdown.

“With all due respect, you're going after the top Democrat in the Senate and a lame-duck Democratic president,” Tapper said. You can't pass laws. You can't govern.”

“We've passed a lot of bills that never made it to the Senate floor,” Lawler said.

“Government funding laws. We go through this every time,” Tapper said.

Mr Lawler said: “Respectfully, respectfully, we passed numerous spending bills on the House floor. All 12 passed out of committee. Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats once again passed the bill with zero votes, so we I couldn't even go to the conference committee. So it's frustrating. I'm just as frustrated as anyone.

“I think even if your party controls the House, the Senate and the White House next year, we're still going to have this problem with the government funding bill,” Tapper said.

Mr Lawler said: And if they stomp their feet and vote against it every time, they won't get 100% of what they want. They won't get anything. ”
