Patrick Mahomes' ankle condition was widely discussed leading up to Saturday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
There was some doubt all week whether the star quarterback would play against the Texans, but he was fully available for the Chiefs' practice on Thursday.
Mahomes was cleared to play and had 260 passing yards in a 27-19 win against Houston on Saturday.
But the three-time Super Bowl champion turned heads when he managed to get back to his feet after nearly tripping and sprinting into the end zone to score the first points of the game.

Mahomes was sidelined in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs' Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns. Backup quarterback Carson Wentz replaced Mahomes and gained 20 passing yards in a 21-7 victory over the Browns.

Mahomes' 15-yard scramble on Saturday marked the longest rushing touchdown of his career. Immediately after Mahomes crossed the goal line, broadcaster Noah Eagle wondered, “What's with the ankle?”

This wasn't the first time Mahomes has suffered an ankle injury.

During the 2022 NFL postseason, Mahomes suffered what appeared to be a high ankle sprain during a divisional round playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With the victory over the Texans, the Chiefs' record improved to 14-1. Kansas City had won the AFC West for nine consecutive years and had already qualified for the playoffs.
