Cleveland had to deal with uneven play from quarterback Deshaun Watson before suffering a season-ending injury in October. The lack of production from the quarterback position seemed to directly impact the Browns' hopes of having a winning season.

Watson has had his season interrupted for the second straight year due to injury due to a torn right Achilles tendon. The three-time Pro Bowler injured his shoulder in Week 10 of last season in a win over the Baltimore Ravens.

The Browns enter Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals knowing they won't make the playoffs. Garrett isn't particularly happy about not being able to compete for a postseason spot. The defensive lineman also made it clear that he has no interest in participating in a rebuild at this point in his career.

“Well, for me, first of all, I want to win. I want the Browns to put me and us in a position to win,” Garrett told reporters. “I'm not trying to rebuild. I'm trying to win right now. I hope it comes out when the season is over and we can talk. I want them to make it clear for me and give it to them. I want to be able to explain it.''I want to do that because it's something that will be possible in the near future. ”

Garrett was also asked if he would consider playing for another NFL franchise if the Browns' approach doesn't suit him in the near future.

“I mean, it's possible, but I want to be Cleveland Brown,” he said. “I want to play here and I want to play my career here. But if I choose to rebuild and it's two, three, four years down the road, I want to compete at a high level. I want to play, have some meaningful games and be able to play.'' January has passed. ”

Garrett has two seasons left on his contract with the Browns, but he could decide to seek a trade at some point during the 2026 season or before. Garrett was the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and has amassed an impressive 99.5 sacks so far in his illustrious career.

If the Browns want to improve their chances of winning in 2025 and beyond, team decision-makers will have to find a solution at the quarterback position.

After Sunday's game against the Bengals, the Browns will close out the regular season with games against the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens.
