Two proud NFC East rivals square off on Sunday afternoon as the Washington Commanders take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the opening game.
There's more than pride at stake for both teams. Both the Commanders and Eagles have several playoff-deciding scenarios at Northwest Stadium this weekend.
Philadelphia has already clinched a spot in the postseason with a 12-2 record. But this weekend, the Eagles could clinch the NFC East title and continue one of the league's most interesting winning streaks. The division hasn't had back-to-back champions since 2004, when the Eagles won their third straight division title.
The Dallas Cowboys are fighting for a spot in the playoffs, and it's very possible that this winning streak will continue. However, the Eagles could make it official on Sunday.
Eagles NFC East championship scenario
Simply put, a win or a tie against the Commanders will make the Eagles NFC East champions.
If the managers win, they will remain in the title race for at least another week.
The Eagles are tied with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions at 12-2 for the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC. None of these three teams will be able to claim the top spot in their conference in Week 16.
