Tiger Woods’ son Charlie shocks world with first ever Hole in One at PNC Championship

Tiger and Charlie Woods started the second round of the PNC Championship sharing the lead, which was quite a story in itself.

But that was quickly overshadowed by what happened on Sunday's par-3 fourth hole.

After helping his father make two birdies on the first three holes, Charlie stepped up to the tee box with a 7-iron in hand. The 15-year-old then flashed his tee shot, which flew straight towards the flag.

“Really good contact,” NBC Sports reporter Jim “Bones” McKay said. broadcast.

“If this is the right number, it's a great shot.”

It certainly was. Charlie's tee shot landed a few feet short of the hole, bounced twice, and landed in the bottom of the cup.

At first, despite loud cheers from the gallery, Charlie didn't think it went into the hole. But as soon as Charlie realized what had happened, he had a big smile on his face, stood there and said, “Jordan shrugged.” His father then congratulated him with a bear hug, creating one of golf's most wholesome scenes of the year.

“We could hear it left and right on the green, but we had no idea until we saw it on TV, and we went crazy,” Tiger said afterward.

“I don't know what we did, but it was fun. It was an unbelievable moment,” he said. [the Golf Channel’s Todd [Lewis] That two-hole stretch there was his first three-hole eagle and then his first hole-in-one. ”

Can you imagine getting your first hole-in-one in competition at this event, and on national television as well?

“No. 1. Not even close,” Charlie said when asked where this moment ranked in his young golf career.

“It was a perfect 7-iron and it cut a little bit. Of course I couldn't see it go in, so it sucks. But that's OK.”

Either way, his ace is another reason why the PNC Championship means so much to everyone who plays it. It's all about family fun. And even though Team Woods fell just short of Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, they were all smiles all day Sunday.

Tiger even called it “the thrill of a lifetime.”
