Golden Retriever ‘Waiting in Line’ for Water Bowl Has More Patience Than Humans

When you have more than one dog, certain things can get hairy. Like, if they share beds or food bowls, they may occasionally have to compete for use. Well, unless your one Golden Retriever who knows how to wait in line respectfully and it’s a lesson we should all learn from.

This sweet little gal isn’t in a rush for her turn to get a drink of water because she knows it’ll happen eventually. She has the patience of a saint. Take a look!

The December 18 clip shared by @adriannasuttonn may only be a quick 15-seconds, but when you’re as thirsty as these two pups, it probably feels like forever. The”waiting” music makes it a little too relatable, because we’ve all been there! Though there isn’t much else to know about the Golden or her doggy sibling, it’s clear the two get along, respect each other, and hold space for the other to do what’s needed—and that’s a beautiful thing.

Still, this video is going viral for a reason, and that reason is apparent to everyone in the comment section (it’s the very good girl, obviously).

“The Golden Retriever’s like ‘finally’ when the brown dog finished eating,” one person pointed out. “The dissociating while in line,” another said. “What a patient doggo,” another added, and yes, she is THE most patient pup ever!

Golden Retrievers Really Are a Patient Breed

According to PetMD, Golden Retrievers are among the most universal breeds, most adopted by families, couples, and singles all over the US, and for good reason. Their general friendliness makes them a loving, loyal companion who can socialize with just about anyone.

Goldens love life and being the center of attention, but they’re also a top choice for service and therapy dogs, search and rescue, and even company mascots because of how well-behaved they typically are. It’s no surprise the Golden in the clip is fine to wait her turn, because it’s in their DNA to go with the flow.

Add to that the fact that this breed is easy to train because they want to please their people, and you have an amazing pack member who’ll be by your side through thick and thin. Whether they’re waiting for a treat, their dinner, play time, or a simple drink of water, Golden Retrievers must have patience in their blood.

Of course every pup is different, based on training and personality, but once you see a Golden wait for a turn at the water bowl, you’ve seen them all!
