Serpa-Acosta first ran from police in August after a video went viral showing heavily armed gang members breaking into an apartment at The Edge at Raleigh complex in Aurora.

Minutes later, the group allegedly shot and killed someone outside the building.

Just a few months ago, in May, Serpa Acosta was detained by ICE and admitted to being a member of a notorious Venezuelan gang and that he had tattoos to mark his affiliation, officials previously told the Post. .

It is unclear why he was released from federal custody.

Serpa Acosta then allegedly kidnapped and brutally tortured an immigrant couple living in The Edge apartment complex earlier this month.

Police said a group of immigrant gangs abducted the couple from their home and forced them into another apartment in the complex, where they tied up, pistol-whipped and beat them.

Some of the gang members returned to the couple's apartment and robbed it.

Sources say Serpa Acosta was previously expelled from the United States but sneaked back. aurora police

The victims were released after lying to their captors and promising not to report them to the police. Police received a 911 call from a couple around 2:30 a.m. on December 17th.

When police swept through the apartment complex and began questioning residents, they found Serpa-Acosta wearing a wig.

Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlin said Acosta “actually came out in disguise” and believes “that's probably a big reason why he wasn't arrested earlier.” he added. According to the Daily Mail.

“I can't tell if he always did that or if he just did it that day,” Chamberlin said.

Police are currently seeking charges against 16 gang members believed to have carried out the kidnapping. According to Denver news station KDVR.

Serpa Acosta is currently in ICE custody in Denver.

Acosta first entered the U.S. at the El Paso, Texas, border, where he was quickly deported to Mexico before evading Border Patrol agents and re-entering the country at an unknown time, officials previously told the Post.
