Travis Kelce had Christmas to remember with history, cake, ‘Happy Gilmore’

Travis Kelce received a lot of presents and stocking stuffers on Christmas Day.

Not only did the Chiefs defeat the Steelers to clinch first place in the AFC playoffs, but Kelce also recorded his 1,000th career reception and set a franchise record with his 77th career touchdown reception. It also appeared in the trailer for “Gilmore''. ” sequel.

Kelce made history in the fourth quarter by taking a wide-open pass from Patrick Mahomes in the back of the end zone and past fellow tight end icon Tony Gonzalez to give the Chiefs a three-point lead.

Kelce deservedly made a dunk that sent the ball into the goal post. This is a tribute to Gonzalez, who made these kinds of celebrations his hallmark during his Hall of Fame career.

“It just shows love to Tony,” Kelce told reporters about his accusations.

Gonzalez was impressed throughout with the touchdown and celebration.

“Congratulations to my man @tkelce About being all-time @chief Touchdown leader! My friend, please continue to lead the way! Great dunk by the way. ”

Kelce finished the day with a team-leading eight catches for 84 yards and, along with Mahomes, was awarded a Netflix special red robe and a soccer ball that was actually a red velvet cake. Of course Kelsey took a bite of it on screen.

However, during the festival day, Dunk received a 15-yard warning for unsportsmanlike conduct.

But if he is fined by the league, he may not have to worry about paying it.

In late November, Gonzalez Offered to pay Kelce's bill. If he dunks and gets a record-breaking score.

Even if Gonzalez reneges on his offer, Kelce may be able to pay the potential fine himself with a check from his “Happy Gilmore” appearance.

A trailer for the film aired throughout the afternoon on the Netflix exclusive Game and featured a line from Kelce to Adam Sandler's titular Gilmore.

“We're glad to have you back, Mr. Gilmore,” said Kelce's as-yet-unnamed character.

The Chiefs likely could have said the same thing to their playmaker after Wednesday's game, as Kelce has been held to less than 50 receiving yards in the past three games.
