Pat Riley makes Jimmy Butler trade declaration after Heat ‘distraction’

Jimmy Butler and the Heat's possible breakup will have to wait.

Amid rumors that the veteran star could be traded, Heat president Pat Riley said Thursday that the team will not trade Butler.

“We don't normally comment on rumors, but all this speculation is getting in the way of our team and isn't fair to our players or coaches.” Riley said in a statement released by the team.. “Therefore, we would like to make it clear that we do not intend to trade Jimmy Butler.”

Rumors regarding Butler's departure have been swirling recently, with ESPN reporting that he wants to leave after six seasons with the team.

One reason Butler is hoping to potentially move to another team, especially the Heat, is that he hasn't publicly denied trade rumors.

Well, Riley did just that on Thursday.
