Luka Doncic becomes latest athlete to have home burglarized

Luka Doncic joins the list of professional athletes who have recently been robbed in their homes.

The Mavericks superstar had his home broken into on Friday night and approximately $30,000 worth of jewelry was stolen. According to a police report obtained by the Dallas Morning News..

Doncic's business manager, Lara Beth Seeger, told the newspaper: “No one was home at the time. Thankfully, Luka and his family are safe.” “Luca has filed a police report and an investigation is ongoing.”

Police say that between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., an unknown person broke through the master bathroom window of Doncic's home and took the jewelry.

The Mavericks depart Thursday for a four-game road trip that began with a win at Phoenix on Friday night and are not scheduled to return to Dallas until facing the Rockets on New Year's Day.

Doncic is currently sidelined after suffering a strained left calf muscle during the game against the Timberwolves on Christmas Day.

The team is not scheduled to return to North Texas until after the game against the Houston Rockets on New Year's Day.

NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow have also had their homes burglarized in recent months, as have NBA players Bobby Portis and Mike Conley Jr.

According to ESPN, the FBI has linked several recent robberies to a “transnational South American theft ring,” which has “incorporated sophisticated methods and technology such as advance surveillance, drones, and signal jamming devices.” It is said to be a well-organized and sophisticated organization.”

Both leagues have issued red alerts for players and teams to take additional precautions to protect their homes from further burglaries.
