Texas teen killed rival competitor’s show goat in act of jealousy: report

A Texas teenager is facing a felony charge for allegedly killing a rival contestant's show goat several months ago.

An arrest affidavit states that 17-year-old Aubrey VanLandingham, who competes in livestock shows with her own goats, admitted to poisoning a young contestant's goat, Willie. It has been shown that CBS Austin reported.

According to the newspaper, VanLandingham used a drench gun to force-feed Willie with a toxic pesticide inside the Vista Ridge High School barn facility on October 23rd, eventually killing the 6-month-old goat. He is suspected of killing her. Security camera footage reportedly showed the goat trying to run away from the encounter.

The boy was reportedly seen leaving Willie twice in a two-hour period and returning to check on him, before calling his rival's mother to tell her that something was wrong with the goat.

According to CBS Austin, Willie experienced seizures and difficulty breathing and died in his owner's arms within 24 hours.

VanLandingham admitted to killing a rival goat because he thought the 15-year-old goat was a “swindler,” the outlet reported in an arrest affidavit. She had tried to kill Willy before but failed.

The cause of Willie's death was determined to be organophosphate poisoning from Phosmet, an insecticide used to exterminate ectoparasites in livestock.

The 15-year-old girl's mother told the Daily Mail that VanLandingham appeared to have no remorse.

“The whole thing is strange. We want to get justice, but we don't want to get a slap on the wrist. We want to make sure she is punished. At this point, We don't think she believes she will be punished. She needs to take responsibility for what she did,” he told the outlet, adding that they wanted her to go to prison and have mental health issues. He added that he is seeking additional help.

According to CBS Austin, a police search of VanLandingham's cell phone revealed that she was suspected of searching for information on lethal doses of animal bleach and poisoning methods. She also allegedly searched for “how to clear your search history.”

The 15-year-old's mother ruled that VanLandingham's alleged crimes were fueled by jealousy rather than cheating.

“You can't even cheat when it comes to showing goats,” she told the Daily Mail. “That doesn't make sense. So that's where the jealousy really comes in.”
