An Oklahoma woman has been arrested on suspicion of abandoning her baby at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Christmas Eve.
The woman, 29-year-old Rubi Verduzco, is charged with two counts of felony child neglect. people reported. Police responded to the casino and “observed an infant outside wearing a soiled diaper,” a Seminole police probable cause affidavit alleges.
“Employees told officers that three men left the baby by the bell desk and left. The baby reportedly remained alone for about 30 minutes before officers arrived. There is.
Verduzco reportedly arrived 15 minutes later and “got into a fight with 'baby daddy' and the baby was left with some unknown friends who could not name him,” the affidavit continues. There is.
Police said she appeared to be intoxicated, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on her breath. Verduzco could not tell police the child's date of birth, but knew the child's name, the affidavit states.
Verduzco called the man and told police he was the baby's father. The man appeared to be in Oklahoma and told police the state should take custody of the baby, the affidavit details. However, the man called back and told police he was actually in Orlando but “was not sure he could come to the Hard Rock and retrieve his child,” the affidavit states. Police said they could not confirm whether the man who made the call was actually the baby's father.
Police ultimately arrested Verduzco because they “did not know who left the baby, where she left it, or for how long,” the affidavit alleges.
The baby was taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and Families, according to reports. Verduzco was booked into the Broward County Jail. Her bond was set at $2,500, the report said.
