“This team's activities violated Section 16.5(b) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL and the NHL Players Association,” the announcement reads.

According to the agreement, on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and December 26th, unless there is a match on the 26th, “clubs may not ask players to agree to practice on such days for any reason.'' It is said that it is not possible.
Dallas began the hiatus with a 3-2 win over Utah Hockey Club on Monday, December 23rd. The next game was scheduled to be against Dallas. minnesota wild Friday, December 27th.

Speaking to reporters before the game, head coach Pete DeBoer said the team “has options, and of course all of our young players will obviously participate in the options.”

Travel for games is also prohibited during league-mandated holidays. The fine will be donated to the NHL Foundation.
