Las Vegas police praises Musk for help after Cybertruck explosion outside Trump hotel

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill on Wednesday praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk's cooperation as authorities investigate the Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel that injured seven people.

“I especially have to thank Elon Musk,” McMahill said. “He provided us with significant additional information regarding how the vehicle was locked after the explosion and tracing where the vehicle came from via the Tesla charging station.”

“He sent it directly to us, so we appreciate his help,” he added.

Local authorities first received reports of an explosion and fire at the Trump International Hotel around 8:40 a.m. local time. Police said a car was seen stopping in front of the hotel and emitting smoke before the explosion.

Police said they believed it was an isolated incident and were working to identify the driver. The driver was killed in the explosion.

The FBI and other agencies are investigating whether this was an act of terrorism and its connection to Wednesday morning's New Orleans attack, in which a 42-year-old man drove a truck down Bourbon Street and killed at least 15 people. We are continuing to investigate whether this is the case. .

McMahill said there was no indication that the Las Vegas attack was connected to ISIS after a flag was found on the truck used in the New Orleans attack.

One person was killed and seven others were injured in Las Vegas, but McMahill noted that the Cybertruck was unharmed during the explosion and damage was limited.

“Evil knuckleheads chose the wrong vehicle for their terrorist attack. The Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the explosion upwards. Not even the glass doors in the lobby were broken,” Musk wrote on social media platform X added in the post.
