When the distraught father woke up, his 3-year-old daughter had collapsed. beaten According to Ohio State Police, the man was attacked and killed by three of his dogs while he was sleeping in the next room.
Kingsley Wright's father called 911 around 7:50 a.m. Friday and said he found her body in the living room of her Roselawn apartment. There was blood all over the floor, he said.
“Detectives said there were security cameras in the home.”
The Hamilton County Coroner's Office determined the cause of the child's death as a dog attack. A shelter spokesperson said Cincinnati Animal Services removed the three dogs from the home and placed them on a mandatory 10-day quarantine period.
The 911 dispatcher told the father to put the dog in the cage before police arrived. He described them as terriers and said they were already caged.
“So I thought maybe my pet attacked her or something. I would have asked her that,” the man said.
Police said there was another person in the apartment at the same time and there was no sign of a break-in.
“My baby died,” he said. “This must be a horrible nightmare.”
The child's mother, Gina Smith, said: told WKRC-TV Police said surveillance video showed the girl sleeping on a couch.
“All I know is that the detective told us there was a security camera in the home. He put the camera in the living room of the home, where she was sleeping on the couch. “I was there,” Smith said. “They told us what happened, that the dog attacked her and so on.”
Cincinnati Animal Care Director Megan Colville said DNA testing will be done to determine the dog's exact breed.
“We have two dogs that are terrier mixes that are about 50 pounds, and we have one that's a little bit of a terrier that's probably about 10 or 12 pounds,” she said. Ta. “You know, when you have an incident as serious as this, euthanizing those dogs is usually the route we take and I would definitely recommend.”
Police said they were still deciding whether to file criminal charges.
