To Protect America You Have to ‘Crush’ Evil

To protect the American people from evil, “we must suppress evil,” Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) said at a news conference Thursday, providing an update on the New Orleans terror investigation.

“The City of New Orleans currently has unprecedented law enforcement resources to continue the investigation into the New Year's Day terrorist attack that claimed 14 innocent lives and injured two more. “We have everything,” he said, about a dozen more times.

“I want to thank the FBI and all of our federal partners for devoting significant resources to our city. These types of events can happen, it's a tragedy, and the only way to protect the American people from evil is to defeat it.” I think it's important that people understand that they have to do it,” Landry continued.

“You can't go out there and appease it. You can't go out there and say, 'Oh, we're going to take care of this, we're going to take care of that, and we hope that evil doesn't show up on your doorstep. , because that will happen,” the governor emphasized. “We have to crush it.”

“And that's what we're going to do here. We're going to put everything behind us. We're going to put the victims and the people in the hospital fighting for their lives in our thoughts and prayers as they recover.” “I'm going to keep trying to do that,” he said, before mentioning an interview with a young man who was drinking bourbon. Streets under attack. Landry summarized the man's remarks by saying people cannot live in fear.

“Look, we can't live in fear, because fear paralyzes us,” he said. “He said we come to this city to enjoy ourselves, to entertain ourselves, to be with our friends and family, because that’s who we are. “Louisiana invented hospitality. The people of our city care about each other. We care about each and every life lost in our city. We will never forget.”
