‘Seinfeld,’ ‘Ace Ventura’ actor John Capodice dead at 83

John Capodis, known for his roles in popular shows and movies such as “Seinfeld,'' “Ace Ventura,'' and “General Hospital,'' has died. He was 83 years old.

Capodis passed away on December 30th. obituary Posted and announced by Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, New Jersey.

The cause of death has not been disclosed.

The obituary said: “John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.” .

Capodis was born in Chicago in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and served in the Korean War.

He began his acting career in the 1970s, appearing on shows such as Ryan's Hope, Diagnosis Murder, CSI, Law & Order, Living Single, and Melrose Place. He appeared regularly on. According to iMDB, “Ellen,'' “Mad About You,'' “Boy Meets World,'' and “Will & Grace.'' This prolific actor appeared in over 150 film and television projects from 1978 to 2024.

“Seinfeld” fans may remember the actor from the 1991 episode “The Revenge.” Capodis played the owner of the laundromat that his character, Kramer, tried to sabotage. Capodis' character was hilariously accused of stealing $1,500 from a laundry bag on the popular TV sitcom.

Capodice's film credits include “Wall Street,” “Family Business,” “The Doors,” “Speed” and “Independence Day.” In Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the actor played a police officer who makes fun of Jim Carrey's character.

He was also a “proud member” of the fraternity Blauvelt Sons of Italy, Rockland Lodge 2176.

Capodis is survived by his wife Jane and daughters Tessa De Piero and Cassandra Hansen. He was a “proud grandfather” to his four grandchildren: David, Jake, Frankie and Julianna.
