Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina) said she was “perfectly fine” after falling down the Grand Staircase of the U.S. Capitol.
in post In X, Foxx thanked people for their prayers and revealed that he suffered “a few small cuts” after falling down the stairs.
“Thank you everyone for your prayers. I'm fine, just a few scratches,” Fox wrote. “I'm a mountain girl. We're tougher than a $2 steak.”
Foxx's post came after she reportedly fell from the grand staircase on the Republican side of the U.S. Capitol. According to Fox News.
The 81-year-old congressman was bleeding and was “seen being treated by Capitol Hill medical personnel,” the newspaper said.
Fox spokesperson said politiko “I slipped while descending the marble stairs outside the House chamber,” Fox said, adding that after the fall, he “proceeded on his own to his doctor's office to receive treatment for several cuts.”
“[She] She slipped while walking down the marble steps outside the House chamber after walking to talk to family members in the gallery. After being helped to her feet and attended to by medical personnel, she made her own way to her doctor's office where she was treated for several cuts. Everything appears to be OK,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
Following reports of Mr. Fox's fall, members of Congress, including Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), wrote that they were wishing Mr. Fox a “speedy recovery.”
