3-year-old girl mauled to death by giant dogs at Cincinnati home

Two days after Christmas, a 3-year-old girl was found dead by her father in her Cincinnati, Ohio, home after being attacked by a 100-pound dog, authorities said.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Kingsley Wright was attacked and killed by a dog on Dec. 27 while his father slept on the couch.

“I just woke up and my daughter was dead. There was blood everywhere and I don't know what happened,” the frantic father said in a call to 911. Fox19 reported. “I don't understand what happened.”

The father said he had locked his dog in a cage while he took a nap.

“They're in a cage, so I'm thinking, 'My pet might have attacked her,'” the father told authorities over the phone, according to the paper.

Kingsley's mother, Gina Smith, expressed anger and disbelief that her daughter was left alone around the giant dog when she was left with her father.

“If it were me, I wouldn't have left my baby around a vicious dog. Why would I do that?” she said. told WLWT.

“That kind of dog weighs over 100 pounds and it just sat on her and then started scratching her?” Did they crush her? And why?'' Smith's boyfriend, Josh Justice, told the outlet.

The breed of the dog in question is unknown.

The animals were rescued on-site by Animal Control and are being held in a state-mandated 10-day quarantine at the Cincinnati Animal Control Facility.

Ms Smith wants answers as to how her daughter would have been killed if the dogs were indeed caged.

Cincinnati police are investigating Kingsley's death, according to local reports.
