Enforcement of NHL’s goaltender interference rule has become amateur hour

The NHL's goaltender interference rule is the same as the strike zone. It is subjective and often arbitrary. Rules/zones vary from game to game and by umpire/home plate umpire. Wednesday's strike becomes Thursday's ball, and Saturday's goal becomes Sunday's come-from-behind goal.

There are no standards. That's ridiculous. Sounds like an amateur. The decision to take on coaching is essentially made in the dark.

I understand the impact of a missed strike call that changes the count from 2-and-2 to 3-and-1. However, there are an average of 290 pitches in a Major League Baseball game. An average of 6.08 goals are scored in an NHL game.

Inconsistent and often meaningless, goaltender interference calls have more than simple meaning.
