Aaron Rodgers made some history before his season, and perhaps his career with the Jets, became history.
After a zero-TD, two-interception performance in last week's disappointing loss to the Bills, the 41-year-old Rodgers ranks behind Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571) and Peyton Manning (539). He completed his 500th career touchdown pass. ) and Brett Favre (507) for their exclusive club, and Tyler Conklin completed a 5-yard scoring run in the second quarter. Sunday's game against the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.
That score put the Jets ahead, with Rodgers adding a 13-yard touchdown strike to Allen Lazard for a 15-6 lead with 59 seconds left in the first half.
Things didn't start well for the future Hall of Famer.
Rodgers' first pass of the game, intended for Davante Adams, was deflected and picked off by linebacker Tyrell Dodson deep in Jets territory, allowing Jason Sanders to make a 26-yard field goal.
Devon Ashen also completed a 61-yard run down the middle late in the quarter, followed by a field goal to give Miami a 6-0 lead.
But Rodgers completed three consecutive passes to Adams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard for 42 yards on the Jets' next drive.
Wilson's 20-yard grab and run brought the ball down to the 5-yard line, and Rodgers sent the 500th bullet of his 20-year NFL career into the middle of Conklin.
“I'm sure in 20 years I'll be able to sleep in a 499 just fine, but on paper the 500 looks much better,” Rogers said earlier this week.
