Robert Loren Bacon found dead over a week after vanishing while on vacation with teen daughters

A father of two was found dead a week after telling his teenage daughters to “get something from the car” during a family vacation to a Michigan resort, and then disappeared. It became unknown.

Robert Lauren Bacon, 52, arrived at the Bavarian Inn Resort in Frankenmuth on Dec. 27 to meet his 15- and 13-year-old daughters and their mother for a family vacation, his ex-wife said. Melissa McClena said. McClatchy News.

Bacon arrived at the hotel at 6:40 p.m. and was seen on security cameras taking his belongings to his room. He then headed to the pool where he had planned to meet his children, but told them he needed to get something from the car first.

“[He] “He had just gone to his car to get something and was returning to the pool area to join his family,” McClena said. “He never returned to his family at the pool.”

When their beloved father did not return, the family became worried and reported him missing on December 30th. McClena took to social media and urged anyone who may have seen him to contact investigators.

“The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning, but the final determination will be made by the Saginaw County Coroner's Office,” police said.

Bacon had told his family he was going to his car, but surveillance footage from the resort showed the father of two never made it to his car.
