Alleged Intruder Dead After Confronting Armed Homeowner

A man believed to be an intruder was shot and killed after confronting an armed homeowner around 2 a.m. Friday in Englewood, Ohio.

wio reported They called 911 after hearing the alleged intruder, 43-year-old Matthew Culham, making noise in the backyard.

WDTN noticed A boyfriend and girlfriend who live in the home called 911, and the girlfriend told dispatchers that the boyfriend was retrieving a firearm. As the call continued, the dispatcher heard three gunshots.

Police arrived and found Culham lying dead in the yard.

Inglewood Police Chief Corey Follick said he believes Karam's boyfriend was investigating a strange noise when he allegedly made the complaint.

Folick said, “Most thieves will typically flee the area once discovered if they believe the home is occupied…”[but] This subject remained on his property while the homeowner went out to double check what had been damaged or stolen from his property and who owned it. , I confronted the homeowner. ”
