Two standout players for the third-seeded Texas Longhorns are proving the power of God ahead of their semifinal game against Ohio State. Quarterback Quinn Ewers and defensive back Jahde Barron each spoke about their faith in press conferences on January 1st, and many players on the team shared the same thing: studying the Bible, praying together, and lifting each other up. He said he has the determination to Ewers and Barron made their comments after the Longhorns' 39-31 victory over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.
“It's really great to see that there are so many people who really have God in their hearts and I'm one of them and Jade is one of them,” Ewers told media members. “It’s like a domino effect in the locker room.”
Baron agreed. He is this season's recipient of the Thorpe Award, given to the best defensive back in college football.
“Last year and the year before, I wanted to get things done in my time,” Barron said, referring to comments he made to teammates during Bible study. “But it doesn't work that way. You know, God has everything planned out. It's already written and all you have to do is just continue the process and just let the process Trust in your life and trust everyone after that, all you have to do is allow everyone to be positive. So literally rely on God. ”
Barron, a fourth grader, quoted the Bible.
“after that Psalm 105:1 –Just give thanks to the Lord, proclaim His greatness, and show the whole world what He has done,” Barron said.
Ewers, a junior, said belief helped the team come together.

It was really cool to see,” Ewers said. “As a team, we pray after every practice, and prayer is so powerful. It's really great to see how well they worked. And I think that's also great.''It's a testament to how calm and composed we were throughout the game. is. ”
