On Tuesday, as raging fires turned the City of Angels into an apocalyptic hellscape, Los Angeles residents were outraged and lashed out at absentee Mayor Karen Bass, who was in Africa on a delegation mission.

Mr. Basu was part of a four-member delegation for the inauguration of Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama.
“Hey Karen! How's Ghana?” asked another. “LA, are you listening? Yeah, I'm burnt out, but you shouldn't be here anyway, you're useless.”
Some called for Bass, who took office in 2022, to resign.
One comment read: “You are a disgrace to our country.”
“Quit, you incompetent idiot,” said another.
Los Angeles developer Rick Caruso, who lost to Bass in the 2022 mayoral race, criticized Bass's “failure” in leadership and absence as the situation escalated.
“It's all about leadership management, and we're seeing that failure, and all of these residents are paying the ultimate price for it.” Caruso told Fox 11.
When asked why there was no water in the hydrants as the fire spread, Caruso pointed the blame directly at Bass.
“I think you should start by asking… Why don't you call the mayor overseas and ask her? Let's get her an answer,” Caruso said.
The bus is scheduled to return to Los Angeles, likely within the next few hours, the outlet said.
