President-elect Trump is heading to the Capitol Wednesday night to meet with Senate Republicans and visit the Rotunda where the late former President Carter is buried.
With Inauguration Day just weeks away, Trump will discuss his legislative priorities in a private meeting with Republican allies. Earlier this week, the president-elect signaled support for passing these priorities, including border security and tax cuts, in a single reconciliation bill, as Republicans look to narrowly support his policies.
With confirmation hearings scheduled for next week in the Senate, President Trump's Cabinet nominations are also likely to be a topic of discussion among lawmakers.
While on the Hill, President Trump plans to pay tribute to Carter, who died just before the new year. On Tuesday, President Trump said he respected the late Democrat despite their policy differences, but criticized Carter's comments. symbolic sale Panama Canal in 1977.
