‘The left became the party of censorship’

Stand-up comic Whitney Cummings is fed up with the left, accusing it of abandoning its principles, and calling out those who are angry that he has recently criticized liberals in public. I'm blaming.

in latest episode On his podcast Good for You, Cummings criticized the political left, saying the fringes of the political spectrum have become more hypocritical and censorious in recent years.

“I've always considered myself a pretty liberal person,” Cummings said. “But I don't think the left is as liberal as it used to be. It's like the left has become a censorship party.”

The comedian said people have to start speaking out about their side of the political side of the issue.

“It's just incredible to me that we're in an age where if you're a left-winger and you don't criticize your own party, how much do you care about your own party? You know what I mean? It's like what's happening on the left — I finally had to say it broke,” she said.

Mr Cummings went on to characterize his previous support for the left as “Stockholm Syndrome”.

She added the recognition that “if you love your party, you have to be able to criticize it, right?” And I don't really take sides. ”

The cartoon then satirizes the hypocrisy of liberals, saying, “'My body, my choice, but you have to take this vaccine,' 'My body, my choice, pro-choice, but yours.' 'I have no choice.' '”

“I always say I don't consider politics because I'm not an expert on politics, but I'm an expert on hypocrisy, okay? I was raised by hypocrites and I hung out with hypocrites. “The hypocrisy is easy to see,” she added.

Cummings' comments come after she recently mocked the liberal media and the Democratic Party's response to President Biden and the 2024 election, when she spoke to hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper on CNN's live New Year's Eve special. The remarks came under heavy criticism from liberal critics.

She trashed the network hosting her on air, joking that the 3,000 audience that frequented her stand-up shows was the same as CNN's viewership.

Cummings stressed on his podcast that his motivation was not to dunk on the left side or score political points, but to criticize the obvious hypocrisy.

She added: “So for me, I didn't think of myself as being political. I thought of it as kind of pointing out hypocrisy across the board.”

In response to specific complaints about not going after Trump in his New Year's Eve monologue, she said: Everybody does it, and doing it on CNN is like home court advantage, cheap shots, hacking, and there's nothing risky or dangerous about it. ”
