Entertainment Industry Halts While Los Angeles Burns: A Complete List Of Cancelations

The fires raging across the Pacific Palisades have forced the cancelation of a number of highly anticipated entertainment events and productions.

The devastating fires have leveled a number of celebrity homes, and continue to devastate the community. The entertainment industry has been abruptly halted as firefighters continue to battle against the flames. High-profile award season events that were set to take place during the week have been pulled, including The Critics Choice Awards, originally set to be held Jan. 12 in Santa Monica.

“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected,” Critics Choice Awards CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement.

The award show was scheduled to take place at The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, near the area destroyed by the fire. Evacuation orders have also reached residents in the Santa Monica region.

The event scheduled to announce the nominations for the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were cancelled Jan. 8, and the information was shared in a press release, rather than in-person.

The annual AFI Awards luncheon was canceled, as was the annual BAFTA Tea Party — a “must-stop” for stars ahead of the Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences pushed back the Academy Award nominations announcement from Jan. 17 to Jan. 19, and made the decision to extend the Oscars voting window to allow Academy members more time to cast their ballots.

In addition to the glitzy events that are being canceled or rescheduled, many Hollywood productions have completely stopped filming. High winds, dense smoke, and uncontrolled raging fires have prevented the production of more than a dozen shows that shoot in Los Angeles and the surrounding area, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Hacks,” “Suits L.A.,” “NCIS” and “The Price Is Right.” are paused, as are late night shows “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “After Midnight.” (RELATED: Ultimate Troll Job Or Genuine Opinion: Random Guy’s Question About LA Fires Leaves Local Reporter Flummoxed)

The premieres for “Unstoppable,” “Wolf Man,” “Better Man,” “The Last Showgirl,” and “The Pitt,” were also canceled due to the fires.

A number of musical events have also taken a hit, including the iHeartRadio ALTer EGO festival.
