Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has rejected an offer from the New York City Fire Department to help fight the deadly wildfires burning through the Golden State, the New York Post reported.
As of Friday morning, wildfires in California had burned more than 10,000 homes and buildings in the Los Angeles area. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently agreed to pay for more firefighters after the state reported it was overstretched.
New York City Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker “recently” extended the offer, according to reports. JetBlue agreed to pay firefighters' fares to the city.
