Tim Tebow and his wife Demi Lee are starting the new year as new parents.
The couple revealed on Tuesday that they are expecting their first child five years after getting married in January 2020.
“That's what I think every time I say, 'Tim is going to be a dad!' It's so surreal,” says 2017 Miss Universe winner Demi Lee. told the people In an exclusive interview.
The South African, who is currently 16 weeks pregnant, said she “couldn't imagine a better life partner” than Tebow, 37.
“Being able to raise a tiny little human together. I'm so grateful that Tim is my husband and that we get to co-parent,” Demi-Lee, 29, said.
Tebow and Demi Lee announced their engagement in 2019. get married the next year.
Tebow, a former NFL quarterback and current SEC Network analyst, also talked about how “doting” mothers-to-be raise their bundles of joy.
“She will be very loyal and loving. Demi is a very determined person. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all in. And I know she will do that as a mother as well.” He noted that Demi-Lee “will be a fierce advocate and protector.”
Tebow, a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at the University of Florida, began his NFL career with the Broncos after being selected in the first round of the 2010 draft.
He played one season with the Jets and then unsuccessfully tried to make the Eagles and Patriots rosters.
Although he shifted his focus to baseball in 2016 and signed a minor league contract with the Mets, Tebow returned to the NFL in 2021 as a tight end for former Florida State University manager Urban Meyer's Jaguars.
He was released during training camp.
Tebow will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2023.
