WI Democrat Gov. Creates State-Level Violence Prevention Office

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) on Tuesday morning used an executive order to create a state-level violence prevention agency dedicated to combating gun violence.

KSTP reported Evers said he did this in response to the Dec. 16, 2024, mass shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison that left two innocent people dead.

The suspect in the shooting is a 15-year-old student, but police have not said how he obtained the gun.

After signing the executive order, Evers used the X-Post to push for stricter gun laws. post Said:

And with 60% of suicides and 78% of domestic violence homicides involving firearms, and firearms being the leading cause of death for children nationwide, comprehensive, common-sense gun safety reform is essential. , clearly an important part of reducing crime and violence across the state. ”

Evers did not mention that the gun the 15-year-old used was legally purchased by someone, but police have not released the name of the purchaser. There is already a law in place that prohibits young people as young as 15 from entering stores and purchasing guns.
