Brooke Shields didn't hold back when writing her new memoir, “Brooke Shields Wasn't Allowed to Grow Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman.”
The Pretty Baby star, 59, revealed that sex has become “painful” after menopause, as well as confessing that she needs “lotion and pills” to enjoy intimacy.
“To get the most out of sex at this point, you need lotion, medication, and proper nightwear (we call it sleepwear, which may be contributing to the problem),” she wrote. .
Shields, who is married to Chris Henchy, also needs a “special pillow” and “tequila to relax.”
Shields suffers from “vaginal dryness” and “decreased sex drive,” which is why she seeks extra help in the bedroom.
“My doctor said I should start taking testosterone. Sure, you might grow a little more hair, but that's what tweezers are for. But I’m not there yet,” Shields wrote.
“For now, I'm relying on the old-school 'the more you have, the more you enjoy it' approach.”
The Mother of the Bride actress recalled having an “intense sex drive” when she was younger, and noted how her relationship with sex changed as she entered her 60s.
Shields had sex for the first time at age 22, but explained that she “waited so long” because she felt she was carrying “the weight of the world” on her shoulders.
“And once we started sleeping together, I never let go,” she said of herself and her college boyfriend. “Oh, I wish I had given in to my desires!”
But these days, Shields sometimes pretends to be asleep to avoid having sex with her husband of 23 years.
“And here I am, more than 35 years later, sometimes pretending to be asleep, even though I know Chris is in a bad mood,” she wrote in the book. “And that has nothing to do with Chris. He's hot!”
She blamed her lack of sexual enthusiasm on “the physical ailments that come with aging as a woman.”
“Even in the best of times, when your hair is thinning, your peach fuzz is increasing, your belly fat is increasing, your vagina is dry, and your sex drive is decreasing, you're naturally more attracted to him than you were before.” It’s gone,” wrote SEALs.
The former child model told doctors her lack of interest in sex was “okay”. However, the SEAL's doctor “lectured her” about the importance of physical intimacy in a relationship.
Shields and Henchy, 60, married in 2001 and have two daughters, including Rowan, 21, and Greer, 18.
The proud mother was previously married to tennis player Andre Agassi from 1997 to 1999.
