Rookie Sarah Filia scored with 1:01 left to tie the game at 2-all, and Jesse Eldridge scored a seventh-inning game between the New York Sirens and the Minnesota Frost on Wednesday night at the Prudential Center. He scored two goals in the shootout, leading the New York Sirens to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Frost.
New York pulled goaltender Colin Schroder on a power play with 3:21 left in the third period.
After the team returned to full strength, Filier scored another attacking goal.
Seconds later, Alex Carpenter nearly clinched the victory when he took a backhand shot that hit the post and slid in behind Minnesota goaltender Maddie Rooney.
Eldridge broke through the middle and sent the ball past Looney's glove, and Schroder stopped Taylor Heise's third shootout attempt with a glove save.
Eldridge was also the hero Sunday, scoring in overtime to give New York (3-3-1-3) its second win of the season.
Schroder's historic shutout win streak ended at 178 minutes when Kendall Coyne Schofield tied it at 1-all in the opening minutes of the second period. All four of Schofield's goals this season have come against New York.
Melissa Channell-Watkins scored her first PWHL goal midway through the third period, giving Minnesota a 2-1 lead with a long-range shot that hit the post.
Looney made his first start of the season for the University of Minnesota (4-3-2-2).
The teams will meet again on March 16th at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as part of the PWHL TakeOver Tour.
