LIV Golf has named Scott O'Neill as its new CEO, replacing Greg Norman, who has held the position with the Saudi-backed league since its creation in 2021.
LIV Golf said in a statement Wednesday that O'Neill will drive Team Golf Circuit's strategic vision, business operations and global growth.
“Scott has the passion, tenacity and vision to continue leveraging LIV Golf's position as a preeminent global sports and entertainment company and lead a great team and player for many years to come. ” said Yasir Al Rumayan of LIV. Chairman of the Golf Board of Directors.
O'Neal has more than 25 years of experience leading and managing global sports and entertainment brands. He previously served as CEO of Merlin Entertainments and before that, CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment.
“It's amazing what LIV Golf has accomplished in just three years,” O'Neill said.
“This game is injected with long-overdue energy and team model innovation.”
Al Rumayan expressed his gratitude to Australian two-time major winner Norman, who served as the league's first CEO and commissioner.
“When we launched LIV Golf, there was no better person to lead the organization than Greg Norman,” he said.

“We thank him for everything he has done to establish, launch and grow our league. He has been instrumental in LIV's success.”
LIV Golf caused a huge upheaval in the golf world when it first launched, luring top players away from the PGA Tour with the promise of big paychecks and causing bitter divisions in the sport.
Negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf regarding a deal to unify the professional game continue, but no agreement has yet been reached.
