Innovation vs. mandates: Why government-first environmental policy only hurts the environment

California officials may be putting the environment first, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Benji Bakker, a conservative environmental activist, has noticed this pattern, especially in areas with left-wing policies.

“If you look at countries and states and places that are trying this, like Germany or California, it's not only costly, it's economically costly, it's environmentally costly. I mean, it's actually are doing the opposite of what they say they want to do,” Bakker said. James Pross “Zero Hour”.

“The countries in the world that are reducing emissions fastest are the ones that are growing their economies the fastest, because if you have the money to innovate and invest in good technology and good solutions, you will see results. “Because it helps the environment.''

“It increases efficiency. It helps people live better lives,” Bakker says, using the Nest thermostat as an example.

“Your app has an incentive to conserve energy to save money, and the grid doesn't have to use as much energy, so it takes less from the planet. This kind of innovation It reduces emissions and is not mandatory,” he explains.

“If you look at countries that have a government-first approach, whether it's California, Germany, anywhere in the world, even Venezuela, emissions and the environment are always going in the wrong direction,” he continued.
