Portland election office vandalized in 'orchestrated attack,' police say

The Portland Police Bureau is investigating a “coordinated attack” on Monday's Multnomah County elections office building in Oregon.

“There is video that will be released shortly that shows or demonstrates what I believe was a coordinated attack on this building,” Police Chief Bob Day said at a news conference Tuesday. said.

“There were about eight to 20 people there, and they were there for probably two minutes, so they definitely showed up with a plan, some level of intent, and they left quickly after they did the damage.” he continued.

Mr Day said the attack occurred just before 2am on Monday, and windows were smashed and graffiti was left on the property. Day said the graffiti on the building's walls was “anti-establishment” and “anti-government” but had no direct connection to President Trump's inauguration on Monday.

“At this point, we do not believe this is directly related to the inauguration. I think it's important to remember that we've seen these types of attacks regardless of who is in office.” the police chief told reporters. “It tends to have as much to do with the ruling party as it has to do with ideological beliefs about the government and the ruling class in general.”

Law enforcement said it will review the footage and work with Crime Stoppers to issue a reward to individuals who provide information about the attack.

No suspects have been arrested as authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Police continue to work to uncover information related to the October ballot box fire. Authorities found the incendiary device that started the fire had the message “Liberate Gaza” engraved on it.
