In his speech on Tuesday, President Trump announced that SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle have teamed up on a new project called Stargate to build data centers in the United States to power AI.

The CEOs of three companies, SoftBank's Masayoshi Son, Oracle's Larry Ellison, and OpenAI's Sam Altman, joined President Trump for the announcement from the Roosevelt Room of the White House.

Over the next four years, the project's initial investment of $100 billion is expected to grow to $500 billion. Texas will be the first data center for the initiative, with plans to expand to other states in the future.

President Trump said this is the “largest AI infrastructure project in history.”

Last month, Son and President Trump announced SoftBank's intention to invest $100 billion in the United States with the goal of creating 100,000 new jobs.

Former President Joe Biden's 2023 Executive Order to “monitor and regulate AI threats” was also rescinded by President Trump on Monday. The administration argued that the order would stifle AI innovation and that the Trump administration “supports AI development that is rooted in free speech and human flourishing.”
