Over 10 million viewers watched Fox News’ Inauguration coverage, crushing all other networks

More Americans tuned into Fox News Channel than any other network to witness President Trump's historic inauguration.

According to Nielsen Media Research, FOX News averages 10.3 million total viewers between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET, with 2 million viewers in the advertiser-coveted 25- to 54-year-old adult demographic. It was. In addition, FOX Business garnered 282,000 total viewers, and FOX News Media reached nearly 11 million total viewers at its peak.

ABC followed in second place for coverage of President Trump's inauguration, with just 4.7 million total viewers. NBC came in third with 4.4 million viewers, followed by CBS with 4.1 million viewers.

Immediately after CNN lost a major defamation lawsuit, it had just 1.7 million viewers. And MSNBC, whose liberal ratings have slumped since Trump's election victory in November, averaged just 848,000 total viewers.

FOX News' coverage, led by anchors Bret Baier and Martha McCollum, commanded a whopping 80% of cable news audience share, surpassing the share of CNN and MSNBC.

FOX News maintained its dominance throughout the day and into prime time. The network averaged more than 6 million total viewers from 8 to 11 p.m. ET, including 1 million in the key demo.

MSNBC followed in second place with an average total audience of 1.1 million viewers, with just 93,000 viewers in the key demo. CNN came in third with 1 million total viewers, but topped MSNBC in the key demo with an average of 269,000 viewers.

Fox News Media saw a significant increase in digital assets compared to Trump's first inauguration in 2017 and Biden's inauguration in 2021. FOX News Digital had its best day in media starts and hours spent since the day after the 2024 presidential election. Total viewing time on FOX News Go increased 83% from 2021, media initiatives jumped 72% and unique viewing devices increased 35%.

According to Emplifi, Fox News Media also did well in social media engagement compared to other news organizations, collecting an impressive 8.8 million interactions across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.

Fox News also reigns as YouTube's biggest news brand, with a whopping 142% more video views, second only to NBC News.

President Trump is the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms, the first being Grover Cleveland more than 100 years ago. Monday's inauguration was held in the Capitol Rotunda for the first time since President Ronald Reagan's second inauguration 40 years ago due to record cold temperatures.
