Washington Capitals star TJ Oshie rocked his social media pages with a post supporting President Donald Trump, prompting fans to curse him and shower him with praise.
“America is back,” the post began, featuring a quote from President Trump.
“Every day, I fight for you with every breath of my body. I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This is… It will truly be a golden age for America.
Oshi added The caption, “God Bless America,” shows an American flag flying.
Sharing the message seems to be enough to anger his fans, especially the woman who directly suggested that Ossie should be ashamed of his Trump support because he has a daughter.
“How can you say this when you have two young daughters?” says a woman named Noel wrote.
“You Have Little Girls. How to Stand Up for Their Rights” by Tammy Lynn responded.
Another female X user asked Oshie seems to misunderstand that there are no professional hockey players in the NHL at risk of deportation, knowing that many of his “teammates are immigrants.”
However, although Oshie received praise from other fans, said He said, “I'll buy it.'' [his] Jersey temporarily. ”
Another fan claimed that those who preach “tolerance” are often the first to hurl criticism at others.
“Isn't it funny how people who constantly preach about tolerance and open-mindedness care about others for having slightly different beliefs?” Fan wrote.
“If it makes you feel good chapping me on the internet, that's cool.”
Seemingly aware of the heated rhetoric in his comment, Oshie added a second message to the thread.
“It escalated quickly!” the 38-year-old began.
“To be clear, I love America and Americans on both sides of the aisle and always will.
The player said, “I have chosen to respect everyone until they prove me otherwise. If it makes me feel good on the internet, that's cool.
Ossie also addressed fans who commented directly about his children.
“To those concerned about my daughters, thank you for your concern. All four of my children grew up with parents who supported them and I know they love them every day. and above all, teach them to be strong and kind.”
As for “Little Stinker” in his comments section, Ossie had a parting message for those saying they would dispose of their capital jerseys.
“PS for those who are throwing away their jerseys…maybe just scrape off the name and numbers. Remember the name on the front is hell of a lot more important than the back. Today and always you guys Please love!
Oshie missed the entire 2024-2025 season after being placed on injured reserve due to back issues.
