Tiger Woods' famous annual golf event, the Genesis Invitational, will be moved from Los Angeles to San Diego after devastating wildfires damaged the original course.
The PGA announced Friday that it will move the event 193 miles south to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood, site of this week's Farmers Insurance Open.
Woods said the event will be a platform to support fire victims.

“I would like to thank the City of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational and everyone who supported the event,” Woods said in a statement. “While Riviera remains the home of the Genesis Invitational, this year we will be playing at a different championship-class golf course and using the tournament to help those affected by the Los Angeles area fires. I look forward to doing so.”

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan also expressed his gratitude.
“We would like to thank Tiger Woods, TGR Live and Genesis for their leadership in these efforts,” Monahan said. “We are grateful to Farmers Insurance. [San Diego Mayor] Todd Gloria, the City of San Diego, and the Century Club for extending the invitation to move the Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines. ”

“Our team is excited to host the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines to highlight Los Angeles' resiliency and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts,” Monahan said in a statement. “We are working towards hosting the National,” he added.
The Riviera Country Club, where the event was originally scheduled to be held, was not destroyed in the fire. However, power and water issues are being addressed and the tournament has been changed out of respect for the fire victims.
The Genesis Invitational is scheduled to be held at Riviera Country Club in 2026.
“The ongoing devastation of the Los Angeles fires is truly tragic, and as a Californian, it hits home.” Woods said In a statement shared on his social media platforms. “My heart is with those who have suffered unimaginable loss. Thank you to the incredible heroes who were first responders to contain and save the Los Angeles community.”
