The Colombian government has agreed to all of President Donald Trump's requests for deportation flights after President Gustavo Petro rejected U.S. military flights. illegal immigration.
Petro, a distant leftist who was active in the guerrilla movement in his youth, said on Sunday that handcuffing deportees is a violation of human rights. Petro said Colombia would impose tariffs on American goods after Trump announced sanctions and tariffs against the Colombian government for refusing to accept the flight. By Sunday evening, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt revealed that Colombia had fully agreed to all deportation flights from the US military.

“The Colombian government has agreed to all of President Trump's conditions, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returning from the United States, including U.S. military aircraft,” Leavitt said.
According to the agreement, some sanctions and tariffs are reserved and will only be signed if the South American country is unable to uphold its end of the deal.
“Visa sanctions issued by the State Department and enhanced inspections from Customs and Border Protection will remain in effect until the successful return of the first plane load in Decortes, Colombia,” Leavitt continued. “Today's events make it clear to the world that America is once again respected. President Trump continues to fiercely protect our nation's sovereignty, and he is committed to ensuring that every other nation in the world We look forward to your full cooperation in accommodating the deportation of our citizens.”
Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the transaction in a post by X.

The Petro government further offered to use the presidential plane to bring Colombians back to their home country.
