Harrison Ford wore a kilt for a whisky ad campaign, and we’re all about it.
Glenmorangie Whisky’s new advertising campaign centered around Ford’s love for the alcoholic beverage, and the playful ads are enough to make anyone want to pour a glass. Glenmorangie shared a playful video ad Wednesday to Instagram featuring the legendary actor mispronouncing the name of their brand. Ford attempted to raise a glass to the Scottish creators of the whisky but was hilariously corrected by a man standing in the room with him. This was enough to spark interest, but for those who want to see more of Ford promoting the single-malt Scotch whisky, there’s plenty more to come.
Ford’s endorsement deal contains 12 episodes directed by filmmaker Joel Edgerton, GQ reported. The campaign, titled “Once Upon a Time in Scotland,” has already shared six of the videos to YouTube for curious fans to see.
The campaign sees Ford traveling through Scotland and embracing different aspects of the region’s culture and, of course, it includes a scene in which the legendary actor wears a kilt and stand atop a hill.
In one of the video clips, Ford read the ‘script’ and pretended to turn it down.
He read the script aloud, saying, “Harrison Ford, top of the mountain. Bagpipe players. Never in a million years.” He crumbled the paper and tossed it a fire. The clip cut abruptly, then flicked to a scene showing the star in a kilt with matching knee-high socks and a black blazer. He walked down a mountain as bagpipe players performed around him.
Ford admitted he enjoyed wearing the kilt during an interview with GQ published Monday.
“The kilt, I thought, looked quite good on me,” he said. “It hits a nice point above the knee and I was quite comfortable in it.”
The famous actor went on to say, “My job was, however, was not just to wear it but to act about it — I pretended to be apprehensive, when in fact I felt completely secure.”
As for the drink he’s representing, Ford is all-in.
‘I had spent my entire adult life drinking it without knowing a hell of a lot about it. But the whisky maker, Dr. Bill, took me under his wing and gave me a rather valuable instruction in the crafts and the standards and the different varieties of single malt scotch whisky, the history of the distillery, the history of the product,” he told GQ.
“I enjoyed learning about it and I enjoyed drinking it.” (RELATED: ‘Some Might Say Boozy’: Harrison Ford Says A Day With Jimmy Buffet Led To A Spontaneous Piercing)
