Even after gaining the opportunity to sign with Liberty through the playoffs of last season, Jin Cherod, point guard, knows that her spots on the WNBA have not solidified.
In all aspects of her game, there is room for growth, from making reading to improving as a shooter. So, in this off -season, she pledged to maximize all the opportunities her way.
“It was important to have as many experiences as possible since last season,” said Sherod.
Sherod has played in China for a month, but is now preparing for the future of Athlete UNLIMITED.
In the eyes of Sherod, with several WNBA veterans, including three champions, Alisha Clark, and WNBA Journey Woman Sydney Colson, played a one -month season where players played a weekly player in a centralized place. I will do it. For her.
“I always ask questions [want] To surround yourself around the player, where I want to be, and then to train with them, “said Sherrod. “It's just a wonderful opportunity.”
In many ways, for the past few years, we have prepared an unlimited athlete sherod.
After appearing in Colorado and led Buffalo to the appearance of 16 sweet in 2024, Sherod did not hear her name in the WNBA draft and was invited to a Liberty training camp.
General Manager Jonathan Colb and coach Sandy Brondello saw the possibility of Sherrod, but she was abandoned before the season. But three months later, Sherod returned to New York and signed a one -week contract before maintaining the playoffs.
Sherod has operated most rookie methods. She played with fear of making mistakes, but in a way hindered her.
“It's very intimidating at first for the criteria and outstanding they play,” said Sherod.
Sherrod went to share the locker room as a professional as Braina Stewart and Johnkel Jones play on high school television. When Sherod returned freely in July, Sabrina Ionesque helped her to pull her aside and soften some of her nerves.
“You are now participating in the team,” Sherod remembered what Ionesque told her. “You don't have to approach everything, as if you are already trying to prove yourself. You are here. You are with us. You are a member of the team.”
Being part of the championship run has changed the mentality of Sherod. She is more motivated to prove that she is only in WNBA.
“I couldn't always write a script from starting last season to having a weekly contract to cut, re -sign, and end the remaining part of the season. [any] More than that, “Cherod said. “I can have my first year in the league, see what is necessary to win the championship, how difficult it is, and have a very fast, very many wonderful players in the locker room. Seeing it was blessed. “
Sherod has signed a training camp contract with Liberty earlier this month. There is no guarantee that she will be in New York when freedom starts a title description on May 17 for Ace in Las Vegas on May 17.
Sherod is not focusing on this at this point.
Sherrod is trapped in unlimited athletes and is working on developing as a point guard.
“When it's great, you have to oppose greatness,” she said. “” [Athletes Unlimited is] This is a good way to push yourself, see where I am, and actually compete at night.
“the [about] I'm trying to make it better. That's all in the correct trajectory. … I grew up with mentality. If you don't get better, you're getting worse. Not in the meantime. So it gets better and grows every day, how can you maximize your opportunity in front of you? “
