Nissan slimming down US production, offering buyouts

Nissan, a Japanese automaker, is slimming the production in the United States, reporting losses in the previous quarter, and providing acquisitions to workers to reduce employment.

According to the company's Spokesman, Nissan offers spontaneous separation packages to employees of assembly plants in Deccudard, Smanns, Tennessee, Michigan, Canton, Tennessee.

Nissan produces a rogue model, reducing one of the two shifts on the production line. The same happens at the Canton Factory, which produces Nissan Ultimasedan.

The line of the Sumana plant that produces the Murano Pass Finder and the Rogue vehicles and the Canton line, which builds a frontier pickup, follow two shifts.

According to the Tennessee decad plant that Nissan did not reduce the shift, some lines increase the line speed.

“We are taking measures to ensure the needs of the market and customer, ensure competitiveness, and provide strong value with vehicles,” said Nissan Spokesman. I mentioned by e -mail. “These actions include changes in shift patterns in US facilities to match the production volume and market demand.”

Adjustment of automakers in the United States is part of the efforts to reduce 9,000 employment worldwide. The company currently has 133,000 employees. In early November, Nissan reported a loss of $ 60 million in the previous quarter that it was planning to reduce production by 20 % during the sales struggle at the time.

The spokesman refused to share the voluntary acquisitions he wanted to secure.

“This approach guarantees more efficient operation in the plant in the current market situation, and gains the flexibility to expand when a future product program is needed,” said Spokesman.

Nissan and Honda, another Japanese car manufacturer, announced last month that they are exploring potential merger in a better position to compete in the constantly changing automotive market.

The company said that it would take the next six months, establish a joint holding company, and consider listing it on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by August 2026.
