Sam Kerr denies using ‘whiteness as an insult’ in clash with police officer | Sam Kerr

Sam Kerr's fiancé said the court heard the footballer “talking about her” when he called the police officer “silly and white.”

Carr, 31, captain of the Australian women's football team and the captain of Chelsea's star striker, called the police officer “silly and white” after calling him “silly and white” when he claimed he was “claimed to have been held hostage.” By a taxi driver is on trial at Kingston Crown Court, accused of racially aggravated harassment. She denies the charge.

On Thursday, Carr's partner and fiancee Christie Mewyth told the court that after the officer was “treated differently” when he made the comment, Carr was “talking her the truth” . She accused the couple of “gaslighting” after suspecting their account of being “confined by hostages” in a taxi early on January 30, 2023.

Mewyth, who is pregnant with the couple's child, is asked by Kerr's defense of Grace Forbes about her reaction when Kerr called PC's Stephen Lovell “silly and white.”

“I think at that moment she was telling her truth about how she felt. I think she unconsciously felt like she was being treated differently. A professional Mewyth, an American who is also a soccer player, said:

She said she saw Carr “treated differently multiple times,” and later told the court that Carr “was treated differently differently throughout her life and told her different stories.” I think she felt the same thing she had before.”

Mewis got emotional twice as a witness. When asked how she felt in the taxi, she said that Kerr was moving “out of control” after getting sick through the window, and she said, “Someone else controls me.” It felt like I was doing it, and it was obviously very scary.”

She was then asked to describe Kerr as a person and struggled to hold back her tears. Mewyth said. “Sam is very loving and she is very humble. She will help anyone, that's one of the things I love about her, how kind, loving and humble she is. It's

“She's so inspiring. She inspires me every day. I don't want anyone else to be the mother of my child.”

Mewis explained that he “quickly felt the fear of my life” in a locked speeding taxi. After spending the night in London, the two welcomed a black taxi. During the trip, Mewyth said that Kerr rolled down the taxi window and became ill outside. After this, she said the driver stopped and “started screaming.”

She said “I've never driven a car fast before” and “I tried everything to get out.” She said she knew that after “the initial shock faded,” she had to do something “dramatic” to save them. In the process, the taxi driver called the police.

“We didn't know if it was a kid or if we were going to crash,” she said. Mewis said she was “kicking straight with both legs,” and broke the car window to escape before parking outside the Twickenham police station, regarding police instructions that answered the taxi driver's call. .

When they entered the station, Mewis said the police were “dismissing” their claim.

“It felt a bit gaslight,” she told the court. “If the whole thing is our fault, it's easy for them.”

She said the ordeals they relayed to the officers were “different” if repeated to them. “The way he says he's going to return it would manipulate it on us,” she told the court.

Ultimately, Car paid the driver £900 for damages. Mewis said they paid the amount because she wanted her to “escape the situation,” and Mewis was “trying to build a US soccer team that summer.

Earlier that day, Kerr was cross-examined by prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones. He asked her if she was using “whiteness as an insult” in Lovell.

When he again pushed “his race had to do anything,” Kerr said: “He was accusing me of not being so he would have to do his power and privilege on me. I believed that I was using it.”

Emlyn Jones said in a spiritual exchange:

“Yes,” she replied.

“Would I insult you?” he said.

“Yes. I expressed myself very poorly,” she said.

Kerr was asked why she told Lovell “I got all the fucking people in the world” and “Fuck Chelsea is ongoing.” She said it was an attempt to “bluff” to “make yourself feel protected.”

The trial continues.
