Welcome to Part 2 of Super Bowl LIX's Breakdown. Read the film review for Chiefs Offensive vs Eagles Defense. Now let's jump to the other side of the ball.
Now you're probably hoping I'll start with something here with QB Jalen Hurts and passing game.
I thought you were wrong!
Just as the Eagles' passing game is up and down this season, they're one of the best rushing teams in the sport, so they do very well to avoid these situations. Kansas City needs to be far better at defending on the ground than defeating Bill in the AFC title game against this Eagle Steam, but the way both teams get to the execution scheme will be very different. The bill was throwing duo, midzones and sometimes tackle darts, but the Eagles are more of a counter team and change the inside of the zone.
For the offensive line of Athletic Philadelphia, they specialize in GT counters where both guard and tackle pull.
They use the wounds with this with the counter bash. There, the guard and tackle pull on the opposite pull in the direction the back is moving. This allows the Eagles QB to go downhill with the lead blocker. This is often a bad defense scenario.
The Eagles' run scheme is much more similar to the Ravens they faced in Week 1, so I'm a bit intrigued by the way the Chiefs defend their run this week. Still, Raven has a much more explosive driving threat in QB, causing problems that are different from the Eagles. Still, I think the Chiefs will bring out a similar defensive game plan. Expect DB Chamarie Connor if you want to walk with many linebackers or play for nickel. What this does is create a hard edge to force the play to bounce back or force it back inside.
LB Leo Chenal (No. 54) loses edge here for all the running stuff thrown into him, but you do get a great play for LB Nick Bolton (No. 32).
With this they have Connor as a backside edge player and track this play from the backside. If KC wants to slow down Philadelphia, I think they'll have to show the Eagles a different look ahead to disrupt the timing of the run game.
If you use the 2022 Super Bowl and let him know anything about Hurts' performance, I think he'll be fine. The biggest thing about pain as a passerby is taking simple things when he is there. This season he turned down some passing options to scramble and I think he can do it, but I don't think it's his game. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has made a great success in his first Super Bowl match, so he's got a quick look at him to warm him up and lead him to the flow of the game You need to give it. I think the run game plays a big role in that. Because that's because the Spag and the Chiefs can throw all the strange pressure on them. In a game that may hinder Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurges, that may be their best option.
At this point, we've all seen the pressure count for the painful one. He's one of the worst in terms of EPA and success rates, but he threw six TDs under pressure. I think he played the best football of the season against Washington, but that's because he found his answer to the pressures that were simulated. Washington tries to play a funky reverse cover 2 here, bringing LB Bobby Wagner and dropping LB Frankie Lub. The wound doesn't panic, knowing where his answer is and offering WR AJ Brown a 15-yard pass.
However, the Eagles face one of the most underrated second and second in the NFL with the king of single-game defensive game plans. Spags trusts that in the middle he does so much, when it comes to changing pictures and appearances, so that he can throw it at his enemies, all of which are talented blitzers from depths . If the Chiefs can use this kind of pressure on Houston, they are extremely difficult to beat.
For me, the fight on this side of the ball is the first and second downs. The spag and the chief want to be in a situation that clearly passes you. And while the wound can win that way, it makes the game much easier if you don't have to decipher and decipher the spag code in obvious passing situations. Conversely, how will the Chiefs protect their run after hitting Buffalo? This is a very different beast from the bill, but if you can stymie the run game and prevent the Saquon Barcree Lightning Bolt, they could be in good shape.
