Plane with 10 aboard missing in Alaska

The rescue operation is underway Friday after a small plane that went missing after 10 people went missing across Alaska's Norton Sound Shore Line (Bearing Sea Cove).

The Norm Volunteer Fire Department began an aggressive search for flights just before midnight on Thursday.

“We currently do active ground searches from Gnomes and White Mountains, and have as many updates as possible about the event,” the department wrote. statement. “Air searches are currently limited due to weather and visibility.”

“The National Guard, Coast Guard and troopers have been notified and are active in the search. Norton Sound Health Corporation is on standby,” the official added.

They also urged the public not to form individual searchers due to weather and safety concerns.

However, both the National Guard and the U.S. Air Force deployed search crews to assist in investigating the area.

The missing plane incident follows two other aviation accidents last month. A fatal hollow crash near Reagan National Airport, which killed 67 people in Philadelphia, and a fatal plane crash that killed seven people.

After the crash, President Trump vowed to overhaul the Federal Aviation Administration, including naming new acting leaders and updating the country's air traffic control system.
