Kevin Durant torches Kendrick Perkins over leadership claim

Kevin Durant called out Kendrick Perkins' cap.

The Suns All-Star Wing claimed to have roasted former teammate Kendrick Perkins and led the past Thunder team featuring Durant's Big 3, Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

“This may be reach, but this comment is the craziest s-t I've seen this week.” Durant quote tweeted Turdosey above the post in Perkins' remarks.

Durant and Perkins were teammates with the Thunder from 2011-15, and these teams remember having three future Hall of Fame inductees in Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

Harden technically left the team after the 2011-12 campaign, but the Durant/Westbrook/Harden combo shined together for three seasons.

Perkins, who remembers most of his time with the 2008 Championship Celtics, averaged 4.2 points in 275 games in Oklahoma City.

ESPN analysts took the flames to Durant's leadership while supporting himself in discussions about his former teammates before the NBA trade deadline on Thursday.

The team was about to trade for Durant during the Suns' mediocre season, which was partly due to him ultimately turning down a potential warrior reunion.

“I said that another organization, Kevin Durant, was another failure. I didn't say it was his fault. This is a season of failure,” Perkins said. “I've joined so many teams with so many Hall of Fames. On the Celtics team, everyone probably thinks (Kevin Garnett) is the leader. He's in the leader. There were no. Do you know who the leader is? It was James Posey. So, not every team means that your best player is the leader.

“When I was with the Oklahoma City Thunder, it wasn't KD, not Russ, not James. I was leading with Nick Collison.”

Perkins then compared Durant to LeBron James' other future Hall of Fame and tried to go home with his point that Durant is not a good leader.

“You replaced LeBron and KD, gave LeBron Bradley Beale and Devin Booker, and they weren't sitting (25-25),” he said.

Perkins certainly has a point about being a great player that doesn't mean that individuals aren't saying they're great leaders, but pulling Hulk Hogan and putting himself in is a bit from his message Maybe I'll leave.

The Suns have been one of the NBA's biggest disappointments despite the big three of Durant, Booker and Beer, but it's probably better to question the construction of the roster than Durant's leadership.

Phoenix will be taking part in Friday's game against the NBA-leading Thunder with a three-way tie from the ninth seeded in the Western Conference.

Durant has 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
