8 arrested for operating illegal gambling den on Long Island: cops

These guys didn't know when to fold.

Eight Long Island men were arrested Thursday after allegedly using the North Amity Building Deli as a backdoor gambling den.

Suffolk County police stormed a tropical deli & groceries off the coast of Sunrise Highway near Albany Avenue around 9:30pm and found the illegal setup after complaints from locals. According to Amityville Record.

Amityville owner Rafael Valero, 51, manager, manager, 34, nearby Copaigue and Port Jefferson betting operator Angelo Fernandez Nunez, 33, all for gambling devices fees. Cuffs are received by possession I did.

Five other people – Anna del Diaz, 35, of Rockville Center. Jose Rivera, 32, of Copaig. Max Zepeda, 38, of Dear Park. Jorge Guzman Baradales, 39, of Amityville. Ernest Jackson, 68, of Freeport, was booked for Reuters for gambling purposes.

They are scheduled for February 26th at ISLIP Court.

The arrest comes shortly after former Nassau County detective Hector Rosario and is brought to trial on moonlight charges of the Bonanno Crime Family by hosting a false assault on the illegal gambling operations of a rival on Long Island.

In November, Nassau police also defeated an illegal sports betting ring run by East Meadow Senior Citizen, Anthony Flaskone, 75, and four of his companions. Long Island Press reported.
